As I clocked into work today, my eyes caught a glance of a book entitled, “Interrupted.” The title sparked my interest because I definitely know how things can become interrupted. I asked my boss if I could have the book, and she said if no customer came to claim it by the end of my shift, it would be mine. I started to leave work, but went back for the book. The first thing that I read was a poem by my favorite poet, Emily Dickinson. What a great way to start a story. The main character wants to be a writer. Her mother encourages her to be a writer, and recites a beautiful Dickinson poem during the first chapter. It is just the mother and daughter, and I know how warm that relationship feels. I am finding it hard to put this book down. Is it coincidental that I am reading about a young girl who wants to be a writer and whose favorite poet is Emily Dickinson as well? I am not sure. Maybe it just the “is this a sign?” persona coming out in me as usual. But, I think I may just have found that good read that I was looking for.
