These beautiful blessings, Lord, I am grateful for them. Sometimes it is healthy to just sit and look around at what I do have. I am forever sulking over what I want. It’s Saturday night. I am listening and singing to my childhood melodies. A little Erykah Badu,
“The world keeps turning,
Oh what a day, what a day, what a day
The man that knows something knows that he knows nothing at all
Does it seem colder in your summertime and hotter in your fall
If we were made in his image then call us by our names
Most intellects do not believe in God but they fear us just the same.”
I would sing this song at the top of my lungs at age nine, not knowing the meaning behind the lyrics. I love the line, “The man that knows something knows that he knows nothing at all.” I think I can apply this line to everyday life. Sometimes I beat myself up over not doing everything correctly. I need to understand that there are always lessons to be learned, and that shows wisdom. I know that this is all a learning process. As I write this, I am relieved because I was experiencing a horrible writer’s block! Sometimes we have to look in our past to find inspiration. Thank you, Ms. Badu.
